NJC Pay Claim 2020

pay-squareWhile the local government employers decide their response to our pay claim it is vital that we keep up the pressure.

The Branch has sent a motion to all NCC councillors asking them to support our claim and we would like members to get involved by emailing their local councillor.

UNISON has produced a tool to help members do this – all you need to do is click the link below and type in your details. The website will produce a draft email to your local councillor explaining the pay campaign and asking for their support. You will be able to amend or personalise the email before sending.

YOU WILL NEED TO INCLUDE AN EMAIL ADDRESS AND IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU GIVE YOUR PERSONAL EMAIL AND NOT A WORK EMAIL ADDRESS.

The link can be found at https://action.unison.org.uk/page/47685/action/1

Local Government National Pay Claim 2020

pay-squareOur members have been suffering from pay freezes for a number of years and although they got a pay rise this year and last, their wages have not caught up and many will still not have enough money to buy food and pay their bills, let alone go on holiday or save for their retirement.

Our national pay claim for 2020 is ambitious but necessary. We all need to get behind it to make it successful. Please click on the links below for information about the pay claim and also check this website for regular updates.

Framework - End Violence at Work Signing

Nottingham City UNISON has been in negotiation with Framework Housing Association, one of the largest providers of supported housing and homelessness prevention in the city, who have become the first organisation in Nottingham to sign up to UNISON's 'End Violence at Work charter'.

Violence at work, especially in vital front-line services, is a very real issue and Framework has agreed to work with UNISON to ensure the organisation implements measures to reduce the risk of violence and assault towards its workforce as far as is practical and possible.  Framework has already embedded the 10 standards of the charter into their Violence & Aggression at Work policy and will monitor and liaise with UNISON reps during the regular Staff Council meetings.  This is a very welcome commitment to staff safety and wellbeing and a clear messge to staff, stakeholders and service users that violence is not part of the job and Framework are serious about protecting the people they are responsible for as they carry out their work.  Hopefully Framework will have set the standard and be the first of many employers and organisations across the city to make the commitment to sign up to supporting the campaign to end violence at work.

Pictured are Stephen Acklam (Framework Head of HR), Mick Moreton (UNISON Branch Organiser), Matthew West (UNISON Branch Organiser), Francis Mutero (Nottingham City UNISON member and Framework Support Worker) and Claire Hardwick (Framework Corporate Services Director).

Five year legal battle comes to an end - UNISON Success on Increment Freeze claim

branch-squareNottingham City UNISON Branch today was informed that the Supreme Court has refused NCCs application to appeal the decision of the Court of Appeal. This is fantastic news for our members who submitted claims and the case will now be remitted back to the tribunal to consider remedy. This is a massive victory that shows the value of trade union membership.
