Join the Fight – the next protest will take place at 12.30pm on Monday 4th March when there will be a meeting of the full council to vote on the cuts  – please join us –  see further details

Please come and support your union to protest against the savage cuts to council services and jobs, and to demand more funding from central government who have cut funding to Nottingham City Council by £1 billion in the last ten years.

Instead of providing the financial support the council needs to deliver much needed service to citizens, the government has decided to appoint commissioners to effectively take control of the running of the council and to force through massive cuts. UNISON is wholly opposed to the imposition of these unelected, undemocratic, and unaccountable commissioners which will cost the council up to £510,000 a year plus expenses!

A campaign group – Nottingham SOS24 Campaign – has been set up to fight these cuts involving Notts Trades Council, UNISON, Unite and GMB, as well as Equity and the Musicians Union, and many local community organisations, campaigners, and local people. The group is calling on all councillors to vote against the budget cuts at the Full Council meeting on 4 March, to publicly stand up for Nottingham citizens, defend the services they need and to mobilise support from communities and join together with the growing number of councils across the country facing the same financial crisis to demand more funding from the government.

A MARCH AND DEMONSTRATION IS ALSO BEING ORGANISED BY NOTTINGHAM SOS24 ON SATURDAY 9 MARCH AT 2PM – DETAILS TO FOLLOW
